Dressing Gowns & Robes

The Duvet Robe is David Gandy Wellwear's signature men's dressing gown. It's named for its feel: a soft cotton quilted construction that wraps like a duvet but moves like a robe. It’s one of the most substantial robes in the range so you’ll stay warm even in the coldest weather. It carries the full Wellwear Care treatment, so it works on your skin while you wear it. Deep side pockets, a shawl collar and a generous self-tie belt make it practical as well as comfortable. Perfect for those days when parting with the warmth of your duvet feels impossible, this robe is designed to support well-being both indoors and out.

Start with your chest measurement, not your usual clothing size. Men's dressing gowns are cut with ease built in, so if you're between sizes, go up rather than down. A robe that pulls across the shoulders or rides up at the front will never feel comfortable, regardless of how good the fabric is. David Gandy Wellwear robes are sized S through XL, with a mid-calf length across all sizes. The fit is relaxed through the body with a generous wrap — enough to layer over heavier nightwear in winter without feeling restricted. Check the size guide on the product page for garment chest measurements and length which you can compare to something you already own before buying. It's the single most reliable way to get the right fit first time.

In the UK, the terms are interchangeable. A dressing gown and a robe refer to the same thing: a loose, belted garment worn over nightwear or after bathing. The distinction, where it exists at all, tends to be about formality — 'dressing gown' often implies something longer and more traditional, while 'robe' can lean slightly more casual or spa-like. David Gandy Wellwear men's dressing gowns sit somewhere considered: mid-calf length, substantial enough to feel purposeful, but relaxed in fit.

Wellwear Care is a skin-nourishing finish applied directly to the fabric of David Gandy Wellwear robes. It's derived from aloe vera and saturates the fabric during production, so it doesn't wash out after a single cycle. When you put the robe on, the treatment transfers gently to your skin — helping to hydrate and soothe. It works passively, without any product to apply or routine to follow.

The best men's dressing gown starts with fabric. A mid-to-heavyweight cotton gives you the warmth and structure that makes it feel like wearing a hug. Fit matters more than most people expect. A good men's dressing gown should not be too short, sit comfortably across the shoulders and have sleeves long enough to actually cover your wrists. What separates our Ultimate Dressing Gown from the rest of the high street isn’t just our super soft cotton. It's the details: a piped shawl neckline, deep pockets, consistent stitching, and finishes that last. David Gandy Wellwear robes go one step further with our Wellwear Care treatment — a fabric finish derived from aloe vera that actively nourishes your skin while you wear it. The treatment also makes the garment incredibly soft and comforting, providing a warm, hug-like feeling that promotes relaxation and physiological stability.
